The day had at last arrived when we would finally set off back to the villa.

Catherine was able to sign off from work at 1pm, Elizabeth fetched James from nursery, the last few things were put into the car and we bade farewell to Harris.

We set off southwards for Gatwick and had a pit stop on the M1 at Watford Gap Services where a McDonalds was enjoyed by all before we set off again.  We must have had 15-20 advisories about “Traffic situations on your route” but none of the suggested diversions was going to save us time so we had to stick with it.

We got to Gatwick at about 6.45pm and were allowed to park free for 15 minutes while the car was unloaded. Elizabeth and Catherine managed James and quite a few items of luggage, getting from the entrance foyer to the room in the time that Graeme was getting parked at the Long Stay North car park and taking the shuttle bus back to the hotel.

We ate in the hotel restaurant and then it was time for as early a night as we could manage as tomorrow would be another day …..
